Nature... by Jayanti Yadav VI-B

Life is like a birthday party, people come and go and we get the gift of nature and in return, all we are doing for it is ruining it. But what is nature? The phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creation, is what we call nature but really, nature is everything around us. It is the garden outside your house. It is the large tree in front of you, it is the birds flying in free air, it is the animals in the jungle, it is rain slowly falling on your rooftops but nowadays the only nature we see is either driving by and watching the trees slowly beg for help or seeing the birds sit on electric wires. But have you ever wondered why these trees need to beg for help, or why these birds sit on the electric wires? It's because of us slowly contributing to climate change in different ways which on the other hand can be easily prevented.

But what is climate change? Is it something that has something to do with only polar bears? If you thought that, you couldn’t have been more wrong. In reality, Climate Change is the average rise in the earth’s temperature on a daily basis, also called global warming. It affects the rainfall patterns, it melts the glaciers and also causes a change in seasons. Droughts and floods are some such other examples. Now we know what climate change is but how can we prevent it? It can be easily prevented just by taking precautionary measures such as not leaving the tap open, preventing the use of plastic, use biodegradable or reusable things, prefer using CNG vehicles, reduce the amount of energy used in your daily lives and so much more.

Lately, The Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research has reported that, if the predictions relating to global warming made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change come true, climate-related factors could cause India's GDP to decline by up to 9%;

Now, during the pandemic’s lockdown, nature really has struck back but it is not permanent. Sooner or later when all this is over, and once we have all gone back to our regular lifestyles the amount of pollution will increase and will go back to its regular level or would increase and I am sure none of us want that. Hence I request you all to take all the measures you can to prevent climate change and have a greener and a healthier environment . Because If Greta Thunberg, a 13-year-old girl, can shake the United Nations to its core with her words, then why can’t we do a simple task and change ourselves? I would finally like to end this article with her words:

I don’t want your hope

I don’t want you to be hopeful

I want you to panic

I want you to act

I want you to act as if your house was on fire.

Because it is.
