A Fresh Start by Aashi Verma XID

How often do we get a chance to start over?

The scars of the weeping land have just started healing,

The toxicity has seeped out with the tears,

Shed alone when we stayed locked inside our homes.

The land hopes for a better tomorrow.

Can we promise it a fresh start?

The raging oceans have just calmed down,

The scattered debris over the azure waves,

Had reduced slowly in our absence.

The ocean hopes for a better tomorrow.

Can we promise it a fresh start?

The air can breathe again,

The dark wisps of harmful smoke,

Disappeared when we were away.

The air hopes for a better tomorrow.

Can we promise it a fresh start?

How often do we get a chance to start over?

How often do we get an opportunity to make amends?

The planet we had choked with chemicals,

Has cured itself slowly.

Now it is our turn, to take its proper care,

Now it is our turn, to ensure the healing continues.
